About

Welcome to the Pineapples & Pyjamas blog.  This blog was initially created by mlisame to fulfill a requirement of the YA Materials course offered through FIMS at the University of Western Ontario.  The course is now complete but I’ve been having so much fun reading YA materials and too much fun reviewing and publishing my thoughts on the books I’ve read that I’ve decided to keep the Blog going and see where it takes me 🙂

A little bit about myself – I work as a Data Librarian and Stats Consultant by day and read, read, read YA material by night 🙂  I have 2 teenaged girls with whom I’ve competed for books in the past.  Today I still compete with my youngest – although I tend to lose – which means I need to sneak into her room at night to grab the book I want to read…  I’ve been accused by family members that I read too many books – and with that comment they bought me an eReader in hopes that I would reduce the number of books I buy.  Well…  that’s helped to a very small extent!  I still buy books and now I also purchase ebooks.

Oh yes….  You may be wondering about the strange name of this blog?  Well…  I’ll tell you it came from a discussion with one of my daughters – she thought it would be a great to have a random name for my blog – why not?  We were driving to the Main Public Library, of all places and were throwing around words – when we stumbled across “pineapples” and “pyjamas”.  After playing around with the combination for a while I came to really like it and well – there it is!

Please do enjoy my ramblings and please feel free to add your comments when you feel the urge!  If you want to contact me directly feel free to send me an email at drmitch24@gmail.com

  1. Hey, Dr Mitch 😉 … glad to see the blog is still going. I’m starting work as a school librarian in Victoria, BC this autumn, so will be keeping up with this to keep me informed on what’s out there. Cheers!
