What a beautiful story… A castle, a little mystery add a little romance and you have the recipe for a beautiful story – and that’s exactly what we have with The Sweetest Dark. When the story started I had NO idea where things were going – we meet Eleanor or Lora Jones, an orphan in England in 1915. Life isn’t easy and never was – she hears songs and lives with an inner voice – and learns that she should keep these unique aspects about herself to herself. Then out of the blue, as the war nears London, Lora is selected as a charity case and sent to a private boarding school, Iverson. Lora learns more about herself here when she meets Jesse, the gardener.
The story just got better and better as I read it. The tension and angst between Lora, Jesse and Armand, the two men that will play roles in her life. I don’t want to say too much about this book in fears that I’ll say too much and give it away. Just go read it!!!
Ages: 14 and up
Well this was a case of being too involved with the characters that I didn’t pull any quotes out.
