Book shopping…

Just got back from a “fun” trip to our local bookstore to find a book for my daughter and her upcoming book report for Grade 9 English.  Imagine all those books at your disposal and all you have to do is choose one!  HA!!  It took us over an hour to find the RIGHT one.

There were tons of options out there – but none fit her bill.  We went into the store with a particular book in mind, but…  after reading the back again and listening to my thoughts on it (I just read it recently The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff) she decided that she didn’t want to read one that I had already read OR one that I WANT to read…  It was a fun time – I got to spend a lot of time browsing through ALL those books.  Staff kept coming round every 2 minutes or so to check on us – it was a bit disconcerting but after a couple of times I just ignored them 😦

So…  what book did we end up with?

Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card

What is it all about?  From Goodreads:

“Only his father knew that Rigg possessed the power to see deep down the paths of people’s pasts. But it was only after his father died that Rigg discovers that he has another special gift: the power to change the past. Unfortunately, with that knowledge, all certainty and safety began to melt away. Thinking of it as a coming-of-age novel at triple speed.”

You know that I’ll be wanting to read it as well 🙂  But I won’t tell her that just yet….
