Midnighters 1: The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld

Now that’s more like it!  Bringing the fantasy world into our world.  I love how Scott Westerfeld can create a world where the unimaginable happens and in a way where you’re left wondering whether it is possible – ok I’m not as crazy as I may sound – but I have always enjoyed reading about these alternate worlds.

Jessica Day is the new girl at Bixby High School and has become popular overnight simply because she is new.  However, she’s found that somehow she is attracted to a group of oddballs and struggles with this, until she discovers the small group of teenagers that are aware of the Secret Hour and that she herself is a member.  The story follows Jessica and her newfound friends while they learn about the mysterious beings and powers that are contained in the hidden hour.

Another great book that pulled me in from the beginning and held my attention throughout and I’ll admit that five words on the last page of the book have me reaching for the second book in the series – which just happens to be sitting upstairs 🙂
